Things to Do Guide

Shopping in Jupiter

Three walkable districts, a handful of shops worth a detour, and one honest mall.

Jupiter is not a mall town, and we mean that as a compliment. Shopping here happens in three walkable districts, a handful of scattered boutiques worth a detour, and one big mall twenty minutes south. Here's how we'd point a visitor — or a local who's only ever done the Marshalls run.

One tip before you go anywhere: a lot of Jupiter's small shops close Sunday and Monday. It's the most common way a shopping afternoon here fizzles. Check hours first.

Harbourside Place

The waterfront one. Harbourside Place sits on the Intracoastal at 200 N US Highway One, wrapped around an amphitheater, with the Wyndham Grand hotel and a marina attached. The retail skews polished: Tommy Bahama, menswear at John Craig Clothier, the Artlantic Fine Art gallery, and a whole family of Lola Dré stores — the main boutique, SAND by Lola Dré, and Brides by Lola Dré, the couture bridal shop we've written about before.

The reason we send people here isn't really the shopping, though. It's that the shopping comes with a waterfront. There's free yoga on the amphitheater lawn Sunday mornings, a run club Thursday evenings, and an open-air market with local vendors on select Sundays — check Harbourside's calendar before building a morning around it, because the schedule moves. When you're done, Calaveras Cantina and a row of other restaurants are steps away. Browse, eat, watch the boats. That's the play.

Downtown Abacoa

The main-street one. Downtown Abacoa (1200 Town Center Drive) is Jupiter's built-from-scratch town center next to Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium, and it has settled into a genuinely local rhythm. The shops are small and specific: Tesoro Boutique for bohemian clothing and gifts, East Coast Bridals & More, Draco Bikes, and the Hobby Card Shop for trading cards — one from our own list, and it's here.

A short hop away in Abacoa proper is Ganapati Crafts Co. at 3356 W Mallory Blvd — fair-trade felt toys from Nepal and rattan bags from Bali, sourced by an owner who travels to work with the artisans directly. It keeps studio hours: weekday afternoons, roughly noon to 6, weekends by appointment. Call ahead.

Abacoa is also the easiest district to make a night of. Crux Coffee Roasters and Civil Society Brewing anchor the food side, there's mini golf and an escape room for the kids, Food Truck Fridays run on the lawn, and monthly Golf Cart Nights are exactly what they sound like. Free parking garage, too — which, around here, is worth mentioning.

Over the bridge: Tequesta

The quiet one, and honestly our favorite for actual browsing. Just over the bridge, Tequesta's shopping clusters around two streets.

Gallery Square North (361–389 Tequesta Drive) is the artsy block — small galleries and working artists' studios, with the Lighthouse ArtCenter's gallery and classes right at 373 Tequesta Drive. This is also where the Tequesta Farmers Market sets up Saturday mornings. Across the street at 380 Tequesta Drive is Decorators Finest, a gift boutique and design studio in one — candles, pillows, art, and a designer on hand if a gift turns into a room.

Then there's Bridge Road, a little strip that's been here since the late seventies. The stop we care about: Sea Lustre at 140 Bridge Road, where Brooke Hartman has been designing pearl jewelry since 2013 — South Sea, Tahitian, and freshwater pearls, plus a breezy resort-wear line. Open Tuesday through Saturday, closed Sunday and Monday.

Scattered, and worth the detour

Some of Jupiter's best shops don't sit in any district. The Wild Orchid Boutique, the boho-chic women's shop, is out west at 9270 Indiantown Road — closed Sunday and Monday. Herbs & Owls, the herb and tea shop at 725 N A1A near the beach, keeps short hours — mornings to midafternoon, Tuesday through Saturday. Giverny Gardens at 550 Center Street is the plant nursery we'd take anyone to — 600-plus varieties and what they claim is the area's largest Florida-native selection, open seven days. And Heavenly Soap Company makes its cold-process soaps in small batches right here in Jupiter — check their site for where to buy, since they're a maker first and a storefront second.

Two more we'd add to any list: Styled Jupiter (formerly Initial Styles) at 6743 W Indiantown Road, doing personalized gifts and embroidery since 2009, and Ocean Magic Surf Shop at 103 S US Highway 1 — the real-deal surf shop, boards to beachwear, open late.

Worth the drive: The Gardens Mall

When you actually need a mall, The Gardens Mall in Palm Beach Gardens is the one — Nordstrom, Saks, Apple, a short drive south on US 1. We treat it as the backstop, not the destination. The good stuff is closer to the water.
