Natural preserve and boardwalk in the Jupiter, Florida area

Things to Do Guide

Outdoors & Nature in Jupiter

Trails, preserves, and wildlife — the green side of Jupiter, beyond the beach.

For all its waterfront reputation, Jupiter is also ringed by some genuinely wild Florida — pine flatwoods, cypress sloughs, river preserves, and boardwalk trails where you're far more likely to meet a gopher tortoise than another person. It's the part of town that reminds you you're on the edge of the Everglades watershed, not just the coast.

Below are the best parks, preserves, and natural areas, pulled live from our things-to-do directory. Most are free, family-friendly, and open dawn to dusk — bring water, bug spray in the warmer months, and a little patience for wildlife.

When to go

Early morning and late afternoon are best — cooler, quieter, and far better for spotting wildlife. Florida's dry season (roughly November to April) brings lower humidity and fewer mosquitoes, making it the easiest time to hike. Stay on marked trails, give animals plenty of space, and pack out what you bring in.
